Kitchen Granite Colors

by Eleanore
(Detroit)

Uba Tuba Granite

Uba Tuba Granite

I purchased a home with light colored advocado green ceramic tile floor in kitchen & foyer - excellent condition and too expensive to change.

However, I need to replace the kitchen countertop. The cabinets are medium 'nutmeg' brown. I've had no luck finding granite slab that has tiny amount of green in it. Most slabs with green are nearly 100% various shades of green.

Must I select a green countertop to complement my floor color?

Andrea's Response

It is certainly not essential Eleanore.

Although you probably can't tell from the above picture, the granite color 'Uba Tuba' does in fact have a small touch of green in it and you may be able to find this local to where you live.

If this is not possible or you don't like it, I really wouldn't worry about it too much.

Personally I would go for something almost black but would try to accessorize other items in the kitchen with the green of the floor - kitchen window treatment, oven mitt, wall art etc.

My thanks to granite-charlotte @ flickr for the photo
