What should we do to make this room look warm and inviting?

by Christine

Lots of wood, how do we work with it?

Lots of wood, how do we work with it?

We want to keep this wooden wall!

How can we decorate our living room? We want to add some color without detracting from the beauty of the wall.

Andrea's Response

Hi Christine and thank you for your question.

I don't think the color of the wood dictates too much what you do with the rest of the room but you do need something to bring the whole look together.

I suggest you find a fabric that incorporates the color of the wood and another color that you really like and want to use.

A fabric such as the one pictured here gives you the brown/tan of the wood but also the cream of the sofa and introduces a lovely shade of blue that would make a terrific accent color.

Using the fabric for a few toss pillows or a throw or perhaps to reupholster a wing chair would be good and you may like to consider using the blue to paint either all of the remaining walls or perhaps one of the walls with the others in a shade of cream to match the sofa.

You mention that you would like a warmer look so perhaps a fabric that incorporates tan, cream and red or orange might work better for you.

Kind regards,

Andrea
