Rose And Blue Living Room

by Cindy
(Springfield ,Ohio)

Raspberry Pink

Raspberry Pink

I have an off-white sofa and loveseat and a blue wingback chair. The carpeting is blue and also the drapes at the picture window. I have floral blue rose patterned off-white valances over the drapes and I have also made floral throw pillows.

I have mahogany colored furniture. I think my living room is very pretty, but I'm concerned it may be out-dated. I'm thinking about getting rid of the rose and changing it to brown. How do I go about updating without spending a fortune?

Andrea's Response:

Hi Cindy

I always think that the cheapest, easiest and most effective way to update a room is with the addition of a vibrant accent color.

With your predominantly blue and off-white scheme, I would opt for either raspberry pink or lime green. Just a few key pieces - a couple of pillows, a rug, maybe a new curtain valance - would really lift the room for very little cost.

Whichever color you choose, try to bring it all together by having one item that incorporates all the colors.

If you are planning on making the pillow covers yourself you might find this page helpful.
