Drywall Disaster

Repairing the Drywall Hole

Repairing the Drywall Hole

In my new home in Sherman TX I was decorating the walls with pictures, candle holders, and other nice things I had picked up over the years.

I had a picture that I bought at an antique store the was very expensive. The frame must have been made out of oak or some other heavy wood because it weighed a ton.

The paint on my walls was kind of ugly but I didn't really have the time to paint until a few months later when I returned, so I decided to hang all of this stuff. Well, when I used nails the picture was too heavy for them to hold it up, so I decided to screw it in.

I picked up one of those square picture brackets and put up the picture. No more than a minute later I heard a loud crash from the other room. I thought to myself 'great!' and sure enough the picture had fallen.

Not only did the the picture fall and shatter, the brace holding up the picture completely ripped out the drywall. Needless to say, I threw away the picture and now I had to repair the wall.

It all turned out to be a good thing because I ended up learning how to do a really nice texture and now my walls look great!
