Accent Color for Black and White Room

by Lainey
(UK)

Red and Green Apple Print Fabric

Red and Green Apple Print Fabric

I have to decorate as I've bought a black and white suite - two chairs and a sofa.

My previous theme is cream and brown etc.

I have got a very large black and white picture with one red focal point in it for over the fire surround.

I'm at a loss as to what colour to do the walls. My room is narrow and has one wall all windows and a glass door.

I like lilac, red and lime so would like to use one of these if possible.

Andrea's Response

If you are only going for one accent colour I would definitely go with red.

If you want to, you could always consider using both red and lime which would be really striking.

At the risk of sounding boring I suggest you paint most of the wall space white and then paint one wall red.

Pick a fabric which is predominantly red - but perhaps with a splash of lime in the mix - for the cushions and add some plain red and lime cushions and, depending on your flooring, a bright rug.
